Befrienders
Ministry
Befriender Ministry is
an ecumenical lay pastoral program developed to expand the pastoral
care of churches and communities. It develops and helps equip
volunteer lay people to respond to the ever-present pastoral care
needs of individuals by bringing a caring presence and a living
reminder of God's love. Befrienders commit time to be available as
listening and supportive friends.
Bereavement Ministry
Bereavement Ministers
are men and women from the Transfiguration Community who have been
trained to help families when they experience the death of a family
member. They help with the planning of the Funeral Liturgy and
Vigil Prayer Service. In addition to the liturgical preparations,
they also offer pastoral support by helping arrange for the funeral
lunch, being with the family and doing some follow-up.
Homebound Eucharist
If you are unable to
attend Mass on a given weekend or an extended period of time because
of health reasons, a trained Homebound Eucharistic Minister will
bring you Communion on a regular basis.
Hospital Visitation
Hospital visitors help
our pastor visit parishioners in the hospital. A trained Befriender
receives a list of persons admitted to the hospital from the church
secretary. This list is generated at the hospital when you put your
church affiliation down at the time of admittance. A Befriender
will make the visit if the pastor is unavailable.
